'Captive' by Rose A

I was your captive.

Not held by lock and key

But by the chains in my mind you held me

So I couldn't be free.

The threats of death if I left from a God you believed in.

The fear for my life and those that I loved held me with you.

I was your captive.

You considered me your property.

I was just a thing to you.

Not even worth basic human dignity.

You sold me for your drugs.

You gave me to anyone you wanted to. I didn't have a choice.

I was your slave, your captive, your property.

And the really fucked up thing, you had me believe you loved me, you were my husband.

That wasn't true.

I was just your property.

I was just your slave.

I was your captive.

Not held by lock and key

But by the chains in my mind you held me.

Well I'm free now.

I'm not anyone's slave.

Not anyone's property.

Not anyone's captive.

Not anymore.

I'm free now.
